In June 2026, Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido held its second Samurai Camp of the year in Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean. Looking back over recent years, it is impressive to see how the number of camps has steadily increased: two camps took place in 2024, and as many as three in 2025 – a clear sign of the growing enthusiasm for and connection to this martial art on the island. This time, participants gathered at the idyllic Wasana Nature Resort Kantana, where the workshops were held in the open air. The resort has established itself as the perfect venue, not only for the Samurai Camp but also for the regular yoga workshops, which will have a permanent place in the calendar there from now on. Over two intensive days, several samurai sword workshops were held, delving deeply into the art’s history and technique. A particular highlight was the yoga session on 21 June – International Yoga Day. To complement the well-known online yoga course from India, an additional session was held on-site this time. The brand-new yoga T-shirt, designed especially for the participants, was also unveiled. Naturally, physical fitness was not neglected: at midday, an energetic Muay Thai kickboxing session was on the programme, which provided the participants with fresh inspiration and plenty of fun. Over the course of ten days, further intensive training sessions were completed, and intensive work was carried out on expanding the two training centres in Ragama and Ja-Ela. Another milestone was the start of the development of our own β€˜Made in Sri Lanka’ training kit, which is intended to underline the identity and passion of the local martial arts community in future. The trip to Sri Lanka was once again a resounding success. Saiko Shihan Christian Wiederanders made the journey in comfort with Qatar Airways and returned with valuable insights – another significant step for Tatsu-Ryu-Bushido in this dynamic year.
